Regional / Community Development

The Regional Community Development Services Program (RCDSP), funded by the Department of Local Affairs (DoLA), provides many services within the bi-county region (Huerfano and Las Animas Counties). The Community Development Specialist (CDS) assists regional communities and local governments through the identification, documentation and the distribution of information on the availability of grant funding and technical assistance. The CDS also works to help the bi-county region identify issues and create a strategic plan with the Council of Governments (COG) member cities and counties to enable both counties and cities to address regional problems and/or issues that exist or could arise. The goal of the CDS is to bring communities together and participate in sustainable community development projects, regional community development, downtown revitalization, infrastructure determination and demographic data base. The CDS also coordinates efforts with the COG on regional issues for economic development and entrepreneurship including enterprise zone matching grant awards.
